According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnam's pangasius exports to the European Union (EU) reached approximately USD 148 million in the first nine months of 2026, representing a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
In September 2026 alone, pangasius exports to the EU totaled USD 18 million, up 27% year-on-year.
Although demand varies across EU member states, the region remains a promising market for Vietnamese pangasius. Supply challenges affecting some traditional whitefish species are also creating potential opportunities for pangasius in the European market.
During the first nine months of 2026, the Netherlands remained the largest importer of Vietnamese pangasius within the EU, with imports valued at USD 36 million, up 2% year-on-year.
Germany ranked second at USD 30 million, recording a significant increase of 39%. Spain followed with USD 18 million, up 19%, while Belgium reached USD 16 million, increasing by 2%.
Notably, Poland recorded USD 8 million, up 42%, while Lithuania reached USD 5 million, representing a 56% increase compared to the same period last year.
These strong growth rates suggest that opportunities for Vietnamese pangasius exports extend beyond the EU's traditional importing markets.
